IBOM PLANT HAS BEEN ON FOR 80 DAYS NONSTOP

Ibom power plant has been producing for the last eighty days (80 days) without shutting down, the Managing Director, Victor Udo has said.
The MD who was excited by this feat spoke while receiving the outgoing Chairman of Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation (AKICORP), Chief SenasUkpanah and the Executive Director of AKICORP, Mr. Imo-Abasi Jacob on a tour of Ibom power plant yesterday.
‘We are proud of this young Akwa Ibom people who have kept the plant running for this number of days and we will continue to encourage them to do more” he said.
He attributed the plant’s optimized performance to the installation of a dead bus closure in the 115megawatts unit 3 of the plant and the rehabilitation of the Black Start Generator 1 (BSG-1).
In response, the AKICORP Chairman, Chief SenasUkpanah lauded the Management of Ibom Power Company Limited. He said, “As the owner of Ibom power, AKICORP questioned the competency of the previous Management because the plant was constantly down”.
He said, “there have been a lot of improvements under the new Management and with these improvements, we know that there is a future for Ibom power”.
The Executive Director of AKICORP, Mr. Imo-Abasi Jacob in his remark expressed satisfaction with the plant’s performance.
He said, “What I have seen here at Ibom power is the evidence that with adequate skills and manpower development, we can effectively operate and manage our assets”.
