The Managing Director of Ibom Power Company Limited, Dr. Victor Udo said he has doubled the output of Ibom power plant from about 50megawatts, which he met, to 100megawatts.

Dr. Udo’s claim was contained in his message published in the second edition of the company’s periodic Newsletter.

‘When we took over the helm of Ibom power’s affairs last year, the plant was producing about 50MW on the average, which was less than 30% of our installed capacity. Right now, this has doubled; we produce over 100MW when the grid conditions are favourable. This represents over 60% of our installed capacity’ he said.

The MD expressed hope that the plant would be operating at 80%of installed capacity when the Board of Directors approve the configuration and commissioning of the Gas Turbine Generator 2 (GTG 2), which has the capacity to produce additional 38megawatts.

He said the company has also initiated the process to expand its generation license from 191megawatts to 685megawatts while negotiations are ongoing for a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Company (NBET).
