Governor Udom Emmanuel has appointed the Managing Director of Ibom Power Company limited, Engr Meyen Etukudo as his Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on power effective from August 1 2019.
The Governor’s aide disclosed this at the special thanksgiving service organized by the management of Ibom Power Company, which held at Ibom power plant site in Ikot Abasi Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
Engr. Etukudo who combined his role as the Special Assistant on power to Udom Emmanuel during the Governor’s first term with managing the affairs of the state owned 191megawatts Ibom power plant appreciated Governor Udom Emmanuel for the confidence reposed on him.
He said Akwa Ibom power sector recorded some laudable accomplishments in the last four years under the Udom Emmanuel administration.
“We completed a 2 x 15MVA injection substation in Uyo, installed and commissioned a 60MVA transformer at Afaha Ube and constructed a brand new 2 x 60MVA transmission substation at Ekim in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area” he said.
Engr. Etukudo said that the power sector office where he exercises oversight functions has installed over 300 transformers across villages in Akwa Ibom state. He stated further that each of these critical power projects have contributed to the improved power supply across the state in the last four years.
He said coincidentally, August 1 also marks his 3rd year anniversary as the Managing Director of Ibom power company limited.
The Manager, Commercial department in Ibom power, Mrs Victoria Odibo who spoke on behalf of the management of Ibom power lauded Engr. Etukudo for his leadership that has rescued Ibom Power Company from difficult situations.
She said in the last three years of Engr. Etukudo’s leadership, Ibom power has paid off a significant amount of debt it owed, reduced court cases against the company from 33 cases to 6 cases, staff welfare has improved significantly and plant operations are stabilized because the company now does maintenance as scheduled.
