The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN), Akwa Ibom State Chapter has held an investiture ceremony for their new Chairman, Barr. Ime Asibong, who will lead the affairs of the institute for the next two years. The investiture was held recently at the Ibom Icon Hotels, Uyo the Akwa Ibom State capital.
Barr. Asibong, a Fellow of ICSAN and the Company Secretary of Ibom Power Company Limited, was elected by qualified members of ICSAN at the 2nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the institute held earlier this year at ICSAN’s corporate office in Uyo. The election was monitored online by a representative of the National body of ICSAN, Mr. Yinka Oguntoyinbo.
Honorable Justice Ntong Ntong of the Akwa Ibom State High Court, Ikot Ekpene administered the oath of office to the new Chairman who takes over from the pioneer Chairman, Mr. Aniedi Amos.
The Registrar of ICSAN and Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Taiwo Olusesi decorated Barr. Asibong with the insignia of office urging him to surpass the laudable accomplishments of his predecessor.
In his acceptance speech, the newly elected Chairman, Barr. Asibong, who is also the immediate past General Secretary of the institute, announced the three-point agenda for his two-year tenure, which includes building a befitting secretariat for the ICSAN Akwa Ibom state chapter, promoting good corporate governance and capacity development through internships.
“We have estimated the secretariat to cost about N50 million and we crave the support of every well-wisher of ICSAN to achieve this feat. We intend to promote good corporate governance and create awareness to ensure that people know the importance of this institute in Akwa Ibom State”.
“The third thing we want to do is to have internship programs as done at the national level whereby graduates of ICSAN can be enrolled for internship in corporate organizations. Most of our members who have been on internship were retained because of the value they added to those organizations”.
The Chairman appreciated members of the ICSAN Akwa Ibom Chapter for entrusting him with the leadership of the “fastest-growing ICSAN chapter in Nigeria” promising to build on the solid foundation laid by his predecessor.
Former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mr. Paul Usoro, SAN delivered the keynote address at the investiture via Zoom. He spoke on “Tackling security challenges through corporate governance, industrial growth and sustainable development in Nigeria”.
The investiture was attended by Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong, a Director at Ibom Power, Barr. Uwem Ekanem, the Company Secretary of MTN, Mrs. Uto Ukpanah, National President of Lutheran Church of Nigeria, Dr. Christian Okon Ekong and wife, the Managing Director of Ibom power, Engr. Meyen Etukudo represented by the Admin Manager, Ms. Imaobong Akpabio to mention but a few.
