The Village Head of Ikpetim Village in Ikot Abasi local government area of Akwa Ibom State, Evangelist (Eteidung) Asangusung Ukpe has assured the Management of Ibom Power Company Limited that they have the cooperation of Ikpetim people.

Evangelist Ukpe spoke yesterday during a meeting with the Management of Ibom Power Company Limited at the Place of the Village Head, Ikpetim village in Ikot Abasi.

Ukpe, a former Council Chairman of Ikpetim village who emerged the Village Head of Ikpetim after the demise of the former Village Head, Eteidung Akpan Etukufia said ‘Ibom power is a baby to Ikpetim village and we must nurse it together for better growth’.

He said that previous Management of Ibom power visited him when he was the Village Council Chairman but this current Management has surpassed others in terms of community development initiatives and Corporate Social Responsibility.

He lauded the current Management for their consistent interaction with the people of Ikpetim community and the company’s impact so far in Ikpetim stating that the community will support the current management for the progress of Ibom power.

The Village Head seized the opportunity to remind the Managing Director of the need to give power supply to Ikpetim village stating that he has confidence in the capacity of the current Management to bring electricity into Ikpetim community.

In his remark, the Managing Director of Ibom power, Engr. Meyen Etukudo said it is the practice of Ibom power to pay courtesy visits to the leadership of its host community

The MD said when the previous Village Head, Eteidung Akpan Etukufia was in office, Ibom Power Company paid him a courtesy visit hence the purpose of the visit to the current Village Head.

Engr. Etukudo gave a brief summary of the current situation of Ibom power and how the company has strived to remain in operation amidst the harsh economic realities. He expressed appreciation to the Village Head for granting the company audience and assured Ikpetim people that the community will continue to benefit from Ibom power.

Other stakeholders from Ikpetim who attended the meeting were the Chairman of the Village Council, Mr. Emmanuel Etukuafia, Secretary of the Council, Elder Ubong Attai and the Vice Chairman, Mr. Okon Benett Meyen.
